Who Is griefHaven?
griefHaven began in 2003 after Susan and Wendell Whitmore lost their only child, Erika. Susan started griefHaven initially to provide grief support to grieving parents and families. But the need for griefHaven's services spread quickly, and griefHaven grew to an organization providing grief support to anyone in need.
The griefHaven Method is an entire program, not simply grief support. griefHaven uses unique and specialized approaches, including private/closed support groups in person and by Zoom, specific grief tools, scientifically proven methods working with the grieving brain, educational information to understand grief, and essential guidance in supporting oneself.
griefHaven is a safe, loving, and compassionate environment for anyone in need and, as of today, has helped hundreds of thousands of people all over the world, including throughout the pandemic. griefHaven also provides speaking engagements to conferences, educational presentations to those working in the grief arena, and outreach to communities and community-based organizations impacted by loss.
griefHaven is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to providing unique and effective grief support to those who have lost a loved one.
Together we can make the world of grief
one that is more compassionate, understanding, and helpful
to those who find themselves on the long and windy path of grief.
